Who Are the Friends?
The Friends of the Sarasota County History Center is an independent, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are a partner of the History Center for:

Acquiring supplementary funds for exhibits, acquisitions, equipment, etc.

Advocacy: building awareness of the History Center’s role in preserving local history.

Communications and Programming support: Our website, newsletters, and social media keep the public informed about the History Center and encourage involvement with the preservation of local history.
What Is the History Center?
The Sarasota County History Center is a branch of the Sarasota County Public Library System with 3 main functions: Collecting, Preserving, and Sharing. The History Center has the world’s largest collection of historical records, artifacts, and reference materials relating to the history of Sarasota County, its communities, and its people. Additionally, the Center identifies and protects local historic structures and buildings and archaeological sites.
